European Union Tourist Visa
Whether you need a visa to travel to the European Union (EU) or the Schengen Area from outside Europe depends entirely on your citizenship and the duration of your stay.
Entry requirements for short-term tourist stays (up to 90 days within a 180-day window) fall into two main categories:
1. Passport Holders from Visa-Exempt Countries
Who it applies to:
Citizens of countries with visa-waiver agreements with the EU, including the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, the UK, and several Latin American nations.

No standard paper visa is required for short stays. However, travelers from these countries must register with ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System).

2. Passport Holders Requiring a Schengen Short-Stay Visa (Type C)
Who it applies to: Citizens of non-EU countries that do not have a visa-free agreement (e.g., India, China, South Africa, the Philippines, many African and Asian nations).
Application Location: You must apply at the consulate or visa application center (VFS Global, TLScontact, etc.) of the specific EU country you plan to visit.
Single destination: Apply through that specific country's embassy.
Multiple destinations: Apply through the country where you will spend the most days. If days are equal, apply through your first port of entry.
