Japan Tourist Visa
Whether you need a visa to visit Japan for tourism depends entirely on your citizenship.
1. Visa-Exempt Nationalities
Citizens of over 70 countries and regions—including the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and EU nations—do not need a tourist visa for short-term stays (up to 90 days).
Requirements at Entry:
Passport valid for your duration of stay.
Proof of onward/return flight ticket.
Registration on Visit Japan Web (optional but recommended to streamline immigration and customs arrival).
2. Visa-Required Nationalities & JAPAN eVISA
If you hold a passport from a country that requires a visa (e.g., India, China, Philippines, Vietnam):
JAPAN eVISA System: Passport holders residing in eligible countries (e.g., US, Canada, UK, Australia, Brazil, India, among others) can apply online for a Single-Entry Short-Term Tourism Visa (up to 90 days) directly through the official JAPAN eVISA portal.
Embassy/Consulate Application: If you are not eligible for the eVISA or require a multiple-entry visa, you must submit your application to your nearest Japanese Embassy or Consulate.
Key Application Documents Required:
Valid passport (with at least 2 blank pages)
Completed visa application form & recent passport photo
Daily flight and travel itinerary
Proof of hotel reservations
Proof of sufficient financial funds (recent bank statements)
