New Zealand Tourist Visa
Most tourists need either an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) or a full Visitor Visa depending on your passport nationality.
Do You Need a Visa or an NZeTA?
Visa Waiver Countries (e.g., USA, Canada, EU, UK): You do not need a full tourist visa for short stays (up to 3 months, or 6 months for British citizens). However, you must request an NZeTA and pay the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) before traveling.
Non-Visa Waiver Countries: You must apply for and be approved for a Visitor Visa before you fly.
Requirements for a Full Visitor Visa
If your passport requires a full tourist visa, you must meet these conditions:
Valid Passport: Must be valid past your planned departure.
Onward Travel: Proof of a ticket or funds to leave New Zealand.
Financial Support: At least NZD $1,000 per month of stay, or NZD $400 per month if accommodation is pre-paid.
Purpose: Holiday or visiting family/friends (no working allowed; study is limited to 3 months).
Health and Character: Meet standard police and medical clearance rules if requested.
