Vietnam Tourist Visa

Most international travelers visiting Vietnam need a visa, though citizens of several countries are eligible for visa exemptions. For most visitors, the official electronic visa (e-Visa) is the standard and easiest option.

1. Vietnam e-Visa (Recommended)

Vietnam grants e-Visas to citizens of all countries and territories.

• Validity & Entries: Up to 90 days, available as single-entry or multiple-entry.

• Cost: $25 USD for a single-entry visa; $50 USD for a multiple-entry visa.

• Processing Time: Standard processing takes 3–5 business days.

• Official Website: Always apply directly through the official Vietnam Immigration Department portal ([https://evisa.gov.vn/](https://evisa.gov.vn/)) to avoid third-party agency surcharges.

Requirements to apply online:

• Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended date of entry.

• Clear digital scan/photo of your passport's bio page.

• Digital passport photo (white background, no glasses).

• Intended entry/exit dates and designated port of entry (airports, sea ports, or land border crossings).

2. Visa Exemptions

Citizens of select countries can enter Vietnam without a visa for short stays, provided their passport meets the 6-month validity rule:

• Up to 45 days: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Belarus, Belgium, Netherlands, and several other European nations.

• Up to 30 days: ASEAN countries (Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, etc.).

• Up to 90 days: Chile, Panama.

3. Alternative Application Methods

• Embassy / Consulate Visa: You can apply in person or via mail at a Vietnamese diplomatic mission in your country. Processing generally takes 5–7 business days, and fees vary by consulate.

• Visa on Arrival (VOA): Requires an approval letter arranged in advance by a licensed travel agency. Stamping fees are paid in cash upon arrival at the airport ($25 for single entry / $50 for multiple entry). Note: The online e-Visa has largely replaced VOA for standard tourism.
